The invention relates to a device (1) and a method for waste heat recovery in a motor vehicle, comprising a working circuit (2) with a pump (3) for compressing a working medium, a first evaporator (4) and a second evaporator (5) for evaporating the working medium, and an expansion machine (6) for expanding the evaporated working medium. In one embodiment of the invention a valve (7) is provided, by means of which the first evaporator (4) and the second evaporator (5) can be switched during operation of the device (1) between at least one connection in series and a parallel connection. In a further embodiment the first evaporator (4) and the second evaporator (5) are connected in parallel, and a check valve (9) is arranged between the first evaporator (4) and the expansion machine (6), with the result that the working medium can flow only from the first evaporator (4) in the direction of the expansion machine (6).
