An apparatus and a method for detecting cracks by using a laser image are provided to measure width and shape of the cracks accurately by utilizing phenomenon that laser lines are discontinuous at the crack. An apparatus(100) for detecting cracks(CL) by using a laser image comprises a main body(110), a laser generating unit(140), an image processing unit, wheels(120), and a control unit. The main body is a box having a hole at the bottom thereof. The laser generating unit is attached to the main body and emits laser beams(LB) through the holes. The laser beams are scanned across a cracked part. The image processing unit is configured to face the hole to catch images of laser beams. The wheels are installed to the bottom of the main body such that the main body slides on the ground(G). The control unit is configured in the body to process the laser beams crossing the cracked part in the image processed by the image processing unit.
