<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade a contention state of IP addresses which a standby system server takes over from a principal system server even when the use of the IP addresses can not be stopped on the principal system server wherein a fault takes place. <P>SOLUTION: When detecting a fault caused in the principal system server 1-1, an intermediate driver15 of the standby system server 1-2 transmits a stop packet, for requesting stop of the use of the IP addresses used by services provided by the principal system server 1-1, to the principal system server 1-1 via a network driver 14 of the standby system server 1-2 and a network 3.
