ANTI-CD4 ANTIBODY HOMOLOG USEFUL IN PROPHYLAXIS AND TREATMENT OF AIDS, ARC AND HIV INFECTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-CD4 antibody effectively blocking the HIV-induced syncytia formation without significantly blocking the binding of HIV gp120 to human CD4, and to provide a 5A8-mimetic peptide or a semi-peptidic compound which inhibits HIV-induced syncytia formation between CD4+cells and/or infection of CD4+cells by HIV.

SOLUTION: An anti-CD4 antibody effectively blocking the HIV-induced syncytia formation without significantly blocking the binding of HIV gp120 to human CD4 is provided. Further, the 5A8-mimetic peptide or the semi-peptidic compound which inhibits the HIV-induced syncytia formation between CD4+cells and the 5A8-mimetic peptide or the semi-peptidic compound which inhibits the HIV infection of CD4+cells are provided.
