A system and method for setting a parameter on a remote handheld device, the system and method including an information inventory 11 which contains the information 50 regarding the parameter to be set, such that the information 50 may be provided and the parameter set by a source subscriber 40 such that it is active on the remote handheld device of at least one target subscriber 41, with details of the at least one target subscriber 41 to which the information 50 is to be provided and information regarding the or each remote handheld device is used to match the information 50 with the at least one target subscriber 41, and the information 50 is delivered to and stored upon the remote handheld device, the information 50 being a ringtone 50 which is active during normal operation of the remote handheld device. |
