PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an ink droplet from sticking to a recording sheet 150 in the process in which the ink droplet is attracted by an electrode, in gathering an aerosol by an electric field. SOLUTION: This liquid jet device is a recording device which comprises a recording head 210 for discharging an ink from a conductive nozzle plate 220, conductive absorption members 326 and 328 arranged opposite to the nozzle plate 220 farther than the printing sheet 150, electrodes 336 and 338 arranged adjacent to the conductive absorption members 326 and 328, and a potential difference generating means 600 for generating a potential difference between the nozzle plate 220 and the electrodes 336/338 by applying voltage to the electrodes 336 and 338. In addition, the recording sheet 150 is not present between the nozzle plate 220 and the electrodes 336/338, when the potential difference is generated, and an electric field is formed in a region adjacent to the edge outside of the recording sheet 150 in a direction parallel with the nozzle plate 220.
