PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication package that prevents the generation of cracks or breakage in a lens arranged on the sidewall of a frame body, is easily assembled, and can be manufactured at low cost. SOLUTION: The optical communication package 1 is composed of a metal frame body 2 comprising a plurality of sidewalls 3 surrounding an internal cavity 4, a metal lens holder 10 soldered to a through-hole 8 formed at one sidewall 3 of such a frame body 2, and a lens 15 that closes a through-hole 12 formed at the lens holder 10 while being in parallel with the axial center of the through-hole 8, and is fixed to the peripheral edge of the through-hole 12 via low-melting point glass 14. The optical communication package 1 is configured so that the frame body 2 and the lens holder 10 are composed of the same metal materials, that is, kovar (an Fe-29%Ni-17%Co alloy).
