PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize combustion of an air-fuel mixture and reduce HC emissions immediately after cold start of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A control device for an internal combustion engine is configured by providing: a timing advance period for advancing ignition timing to air-fuel mixture to the extent that combustion of the air-fuel mixture in a cylinder does not become unstable immediately after start of the internal combustion engine; and a timing delay period for delaying the ignition timing to the air-fuel mixture subsequent to the timing advance period. The ignition timing in the timing delay period is variably controlled in accordance with at least one of timing advance amount of the ignition timing in the timing advance period and the length of the timing advance period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
