PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic filter element having a remarkably long life by preventing a dust ring from being formed at a neck part. SOLUTION: A pore-sealing part 12 is previously formed at the neck part 4 of the porous ceramic filter element to reduce its air permeability. The ceramic filter element is used by inserting the neck part 4 into a supporting plate 3 and by being held with the supporting plate 3, but the dust ring is not formed at the outer periphery of the neck part 4 since dust-containing gas is not sucked from the neck part 4.
