PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the weight reduction of a clutch return mechanism without losing its strength. SOLUTION: This double bearing reel, which winds up a fishing line around a shaft crossing the longitudinal direction of the fishing rod, comprises the main body 1 of the reel, a spool 15, a handle 2, a clutch mechanism 13, a clutch operation lever 12, a clutch control mechanism 19 and a clutch return mechanism 50. The clutch control mechanism performs the connection and disconnection of the clutch mechanism depending the movement of the clutch operation lever. The clutch return mechanism is dislocated to an engaging position with the shift to a disengagement position of the clutch operation lever, and it has an engaging member 51 which dislocates the clutch operation lever to the engaging position with the dislocation from the engaging position to a non-engaging position, ratchet teeth 52a capable of pulling the engaging member existing on the engaging position and a ratchet wheel 52 which pulls the engaging member to move it to the non-engaging position with the rotation to the line winding direction of the handle.
