PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally set an auxiliary chamber fuel gas supply amount so as to stably operate an engine for a long time by arranging a misfire detecting means detecting a misfire in the auxiliary chamber of an auxiliary chamber type gas engine and regulating the auxiliary chamber fuel gas supply amount on the basis of a misfire detection signal. SOLUTION: A main fuel gas supply system guiding a lean air-fuel mixture prepared by mixing fuel gas and air together from an intake port 7 to the inside of a cylinder 10 is arranged, while an auxiliary chamber fuel gas supply system guiding fuel gas with a concentration higher than that of main fuel gas from an auxiliary chamber fuel gas supply pipe 5 to an auxiliary chamber 1 is arranged. In this auxiliary chamber type gas engine, a temperature sensor 20 serving as a misfire detecting means is arranged in an exhaust port 13. When a temperature inside the exhaust port 13 is lowered below a prescribed value, a defective combustion state is determined, and when it is decided that it is a misfire tendency, an variable area orifice 17 serving as an auxiliary fuel gas supply amount regulating means is controlled so as to be throttled for reducing supply fuel gas amount to the auxiliary chamber 1, and consequently ignitability is improved.
