PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing adamantanol by site-selective hydroxylation reaction of adamantane using a microorganism. SOLUTION: The method for producing adamantanol from adamantane comprises a process for treating adamantane with a cell body of a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces or Dothiora or its treated material.
