PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller capable of detecting external failures relatively easily, in IC and LSI. SOLUTION: This controller controls operations of the first-third buffers 31-33, connected electrically to the first-third input ports 24-26 of a port extension LSI 16 and external equipment 28, and the fourth to the sixth buffers 34-36, connected electrically to the first to the third input ports 24-26 of the port extension LSI 16 and the first to the third output ports 20-22 thereof, based on a prescribed control signal transmitted from a master 15 by a control signal line 40. For example, the master 15 stops the operations of the first to the third buffers 31-33, operates the fourth to the sixth buffers 34-36, and make them feed back, thereby the signals output from the first to the third output ports 20-22 to the first to the third input ports 24-26 via the fourth to the sixth buffers 34-36.
