<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus in which the correction region of a skewed image is expanded without increasing capacity of a line memory. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a misregistration detecting means 15 and 16 for detecting misregistration by a pattern for correction of misregistration 14 formed beforehand on an intermediate transfer belt 3; a calculating means for calculating a misregistration correction amount on the basis of the detected result of the misregistration; temporary storing means 120, 121, 122 and 123 temporarily storing the image signals; a reduction processing means reducing at least one of number of gradation or resolution at output when the misregistration correction amount exceeds a specified value; an image processing means for correcting an image signal stored to the temporary storing means by individually changing the direction of a plurality of regions divided in a main scanning direction into sub scanning directions after the reduction processing by the reduction processing means; and an image output means for outputting the image signal corrected by the image processing means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
