摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high surface area nanoparticle having a fibrous morphology, an application of the same and a method of fabrication of the same.SOLUTION: In one embodiment, a nanoparticle comprises a plurality of fibers, wherein each fiber is in contact with at least one other fiber, and each fiber has a length of between about 1 nm and about 5000 nm and a thickness of between about 1 nm and about 50 nm, preferably a length of between about 1 nm and about 250 nm and a thickness of between about 1 nm and about 10 nm..The nanoparticle includes a high surface area, which renders the nanoparticle feasible for a catalyst support, a fibrous surface morphology, which makes it possible to obtain a high concentration of highly dispersed and easily accessible moieties on the surface of the nanoparticle, and also has a high thermal stability and a high mechanical stability.
