PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict a decrease in the number of prints per unit time when sort copying is carried out.SOLUTION: A copying machine comprises: a first reading process that stores image data into a storage part and an external processing device; a printing process that causes a printing part to print an image on a document; a second reading process that releases the image data storage area of the storage part and stores the image data in the storage part and external processing device; a transfer process that releases the image data storage area of the storage part and stores the image data into the storage part from the external processing device; and an empty capacity detecting process that detects whether the empty capacity of the storage part has decreased below a threshold value. If a detection is made by the empty capacity detecting process that the empty capacity of the storage part has decreased the threshold value, before complete exhaustion of documents is detected after the initiation of the first reading process and the printing process, the copying machine terminates the first reading process and initiates the second reading process. If the complete exhaustion of documents is detected thereafter, the second reading process is terminated and the transfer process is initiated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
