PURPOSE: An air conditioner used for cooling and heating having a vortex tube is provided to restrain heating from being stopped due to defrosting operation by raising a temperature of an outdoor heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION: A vortex tube(35) has an inflow part(37) connected with a downstream side of an expansion device(19) to a flow direction of a refrigerant in the case of heating, a low temperature discharge part(39) connected with an outlet side of an outdoor heat exchanger(17), and a high temperature discharge part(38) connected with an inlet side of the outdoor heat exchanger. A three-way valve(31) has an inlet side connected with an outlet side of the expansion device, and a first discharge side connected with an inlet side of the vortex tube. A bypass passage(33) has one end connected with a second discharge side of the three-way valve, and the other end connected wit the inlet side of the outdoor heat exchanger.
