<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fitting which allows an operator to easily and positively mount a functional unit thereon by employing a smaller number of component parts and through small machining man-hour, and to provide a fitting reforming method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: According to the structure of the fitting, protrusions 274 are formed on respective connection members 27 of a panel unit 20, and they are engaged with through-holes 115, 135 formed in respective depth surfaces 113, 133 of a sash frame 15, whereby the panel unit 20 is supported with the sash 10. Therefore boring work into a unit upper rail 21 and a unit stile 23 of the panel unit 20 is dispensed with, and preparation of mounting members is also dispensed with, which contributes to reduction of machining man-hour and the number of component parts. Further only by squeezing the panel unit 20 into the sash frame 15, the protrusions 274 can be engaged with the through-holes 115, 135, and therefore mounting of the panel unit 20 is easily and positively achieved.
