Non-catalytic process and assembly converts oxides ofnitrogen and ammonia

The selective NOx gas phase reaction process takes place inan incineratorchamber converting ammonia to nitrogen and water. A minimum quantity of ammonia is introduced with a water jet into the incinerator chamber, and the quantity is in proportion to the degree of NOx purity and the raw gas value. The quantity of ammonia-water which may be required at any moment is held in reserve. The selective gas phase reaction is effected by ammonia-water droplets, and the droplet size is determined by the gas temperature in the incinerator chamber and the NOx content. The droplet size is adjusted by a change in the pressure and/or quantity of the ammonia-water. The droplet size is reduced in accordance with the temperature profile following the increase in the quantity of incoming pressurised air, and in proportion to the quantity of ammonia-water. Also claimed is a suitable assembly.
