Provided are a secondary battery, and a method for preparing the secondary battery without the adhesion process of a washer by forming an insulating layer on an upper surface of a cap plate to reduce a manufacturing process and to improve productivity. A secondary battery(30) comprises a jelly-roll type electrode assembly(32) which comprises a positive electrode plate, a separator and a negative electrode plate; a can(31) in which the electrode assembly is accommodated; a cap assembly(40) which is combined with the upper aperture of the can and is provided with a terminal penetration hole and an electrolyte injection hole(46); an electrode terminal which passes through the terminal penetration hole so as to be combined; a gasket which is interposed between the electrode terminal and the cap plate to insulate the electrode terminal; and a stopper(47) which is put into the electrolyte injection hole of the cap plate to seal the electrolyte injection hole, wherein an insulating layer is formed at the upper surface of the cap plate. |
