PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a riding type vehicle in which the fluttering of a belt is suppressed in starting the vehicle. SOLUTION: To a control device 10, a throttle opening sensor is connected for detecting the opening of a throttle 50. The throttle opening sensor outputs to the control device 10 a signal which is issued at least when the throttle opening is changed from a closed condition into an opened condition. When the vehicle is started in the stopped condition, the control device 10 controls an actuator 60 to move a movable flange 24 from its normal position in the stopped condition of the vehicle to the direction of narrowing a groove width of a primary sheave 20 in accordance with the signal which is issued when the throttle opening is changed from the closed condition into the opened condition.
