摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass mat thermoplastic bumper of an automobile for reduce manufacturing cost and part weight and to satisfy structural integrity concerning impact resistance by molding a front side part, a rear side part and a crossing member of a fiber reinforced thermoplastic material which includes a mineral filler. SOLUTION: A glass mat thermoplastic(GMT) composite material is a glass fiber-reinforced material, having a thermoplastic matrix free to compression mold and generally superior in a mechanical characteristic. Thereby, a mineral filler GMT is used as a basic material of an I cross section bumper. This chopped lint glass GMT product filled with mineral matters has high rigidity in comparison with other glass fiber mats and can extensively reduce weight. Additionally, an I beam 10 includes a front flange 18 and a rear flange to be connected to each other by a web 14. When this I beam 10 is used as an automobile bumper, a load is directed toward a central part 16 or an end part 12 of the front flange 18.
