PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor which can obtain an excellent reading image output. SOLUTION: An image sensor arranges a light source 3, an image formation lens 4, an opto-electric converting element 6, and a white reference board 2 for shading correction within a cabinet 7; illuminates a manuscript at a reading position on a contact glass 1 by the light source 3; and reads the image of the manuscript at the opto-electric converting element 6 through the image formation lens 4. In the image sensor, the white reference board 2 has a length of equal to or more than a valid image area width, and can move to the manuscript reading position. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
