PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zigzag stitch sewing machine capable of performing zigzag stitch with a good quality by easily adjusting contacting of a needle with a needle guard so as to properly keep a relative position of the needle supported by the needle guard and a hook tip rotated with a shuttle. SOLUTION: A part of a needle guard plate 6 fixed to one surface of the shuttle 5 is punched and molded to provide the needle guard 7 having a supporting surface 70 supporting the needle tip of the needle and a lead surface 71 for leading the needle tip to the supporting surface 70. A notch part 72 is provided by notching a part of the supporting surface 70 including a leg part 60 on a side of the leg part 60 communicating the needle guard with the needle guard plate 6.
