<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance luminance of a light source furthermore in the lighting tool for vehicle employing a light emitting diode as the light source. <P>SOLUTION: A head light 1 for vehicle has a light source section 10 comprising a light emitting diode chip 3 and a fluorescent layer 4. The light emitting diode chip 3 has an active layer 33 emitting blue light, a rectangular light exit surface 3a intersecting the thickness direction of the active layer 33, and a side face 3b along the edge of the light exit surface 3a. The fluorescent layer 4 contains a fluorescent material 41 which is excited by blue light from the light emitting diode chip 3 to emit light, and it is provided on the light exit surface 3a and the side face 3b. Thickness t of the fluorescent layer 4 is d/10 (d: length of the side of the light exit surface 3a) or less both on the light exit surface 3a and the side face 3b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
