PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field-emission display type device which has a larger exhaust hole and secures a sufficient amount of getters. SOLUTION: The field-emission display device includes: a cathode substrate which has a cathode electrode and a gate electrode set cross to each other and a cathode electrode extension area and a gate electrode extension area formed respectively in peripheral two areas perpendicular to each other; and an anode substrate which is set opposite the cathode substrate via a seal frame so that the cathode electrode extension area and the gate electrode extension area are exposed. An image display area having an electron source is formed on part of the interior of the seal frame. An area not contributing to image display is formed between the seal frame and the image display area on the side opposite to the cathode electrode extension area, and between the seal frame and the image display area on the side opposite the gate electrode extension area. On part of the area not contributing to image display, at least a getter hole and an exhaust hole are formed by through-holes of the cathode substrate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
