<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst for a fuel cell in which a metal cluster of which the metal circumference is covered by ligand is carried on a carbon carrier and which supersedes a performance of a conventional platinum catalyst without using expensive platinum. <P>SOLUTION: A metal cluster containing a non-platinum group element is used for a catalyst active composition, and since the metal cluster has a metal of a different valence, it is possible to provide a catalyst having more improved electrode performance per cost of a used metal than a catalyst using platinum. By applying the catalyst for the electrode catalyst of the fuel cell, the fuel cell system of a low cost can be materialized without using expensive platinum as an active composition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
