The invention concerns a fixed or floating adjusting system for standard or miniature positioning devices in certain planes of orthodontic therapy capable of being locked in a fixed position by means of the screw (8). More particularly, it concerns the device for enabling the arch (1) of the positioning device and the pins (2) thereof integral with a stop ring (3) to move along the chin cup (4) shaft (5), the stop means delimiting a range of movement and the return system bringing the shaft (5) and the chin cup (4) back to the initial position. The invention also concerns a reverse system, not shown, that causes the chin cup shaft (5) to be integral with the positioning device arch (1) and pin (2) assembly and not with the chin cup (4), and the stop ring (3) to be integral with the chin cup (4) and not with the positioning device arch (1) and its pins (2).
