PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module having high shock resistance and high vibration resistance. SOLUTION: An optical waveguide circuit chip 11 forming an optical waveguide forming area 10 on a substrate 1 is supported at least by the peripheral part of an edge part and stored in a storage part 28 for a package 30. Elastic members 12 each of which has a U shaped cross section for easing the shock of the chip 11 are formed in the vicinity of four corners of the chip 11.
