PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly carry recording media closely contacting and held on a holding face. SOLUTION: An ink jet printer 1 includes a platen 21 having a flat upper face 21a for holding a paper sheet P and a paper delivery mechanism 13 for carrying the paper sheet P from the platen 21 to a paper receiving part. The paper delivery mechanism 13 includes a paper delivery roller 71 capable of being selectively located in a projecting position projecting from the upper face 21a and a retracting position preventing projection from the upper face 21a and a nip roller 72 for nipping the paper sheet P with the paper delivery roller 71 in the projecting position. When the paper sheet P is nipped between the both rollers 71, 72, the paper delivery roller 71 is rotated so as carry the paper sheet P held on the upper face 21a to the paper receiving part.
