A short message-based location search service method and a system thereof are provided to demand location tracking by individually inputting telephone numbers and ID numbers of requested terminals whose locations are to be searched, thereby easily using services. A user accesses an SMS(Short Message Service) menu installed within a requesting terminal(1) to write and send a short message including a telephone number of a requested terminal(5). The written message is delivered to a location search system(60) through a message center(50). The system(60) searches a DB(30) to decide whether the requesting terminal(1) subscribes for a buddy search service. If so, the system(60) searches the DB(30) to check whether the requested terminal(5) is registered in a location permission list. If so, the system(60) demands the current location information of the terminal(5) to an HLR(Home Location Register)(10) to provide the demanded information to the terminal(5). |
