PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a honeycomb structure in which even in a case where many honeycomb structures are arranged, a dead space can be reduced and the many honeycomb structures are arranged with easy work.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a ceramic honeycomb structure including a plurality of cells 31 divided by partition walls 30 extending in a single axial direction and arranged in row by extrusion molding. On a pair of end surfaces in a cell axial direction, a ceramic molding 100 having open cells whose whole circumferences are surrounded with the partition walls is molded. The ceramic molding is hollowed by a cylinder in a direction orthogonal to the cell axial direction, and thereby, the ceramic honeycomb structure includes a curved surface consisting of only arc surfaces. The arcs with a uniform diameter are continuously formed in a uniform direction on at least the outer circumferential edge part of the end surfaces. When the ceramic molding is a cube or a rectangular parallelepiped which is a square in the outer shape of a cross section thereof orthogonal to the cell axial direction, hollowing by the cylinder is performed in a direction orthogonal to each other twice.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
