Disclosed are: a fluorescent probe which can be synthesized in a simple manner, rarely binds nonspecifically to a biological molecule such as a cell, and enables labeling or imaging with a good fluorescence intensity; and a process for producing the fluorescent probe. An intermediate which is produced by binding an alkine derivative of cyclooctane to a fluorescent nanoparticle such as a hydrophilic quantum dot is condensed with a substance which can bind to a fluorescently labeled azide-group-introduced substance of interest. In this manner, a fluorescent probe which rarely binds nonspecifically to a biological molecule such as a cell and enables labeling or imaging with a good fluorescence intensity can be provided.
