摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide supporting structure for a camshaft of a 4-cycle engine to reduce a size of an engine, by arranging an exhaust camshaft to be closer to a crankshaft side than an intake camshaft. SOLUTION: In the supporting structure for the camshaft of the 4-cycle engine, a cylinder head 5 is disposed so that the direction of a axial line B of a cylinder thereof is slantingly upward, and the intake camshaft 17 is disposed on upper side of the axial line B and the exhaust camshaft 18 is disposed on lower side of the axial line so that each camshaft and the crankshaft are disposed in parallel to each other. The exhaust camshaft 18 is disposed along the axial line B to be closer than the intake camshaft 17, a cam support member 46 is disposed on an upper joint surface 5h' of a vertical wall portion 5h, the exhaust camshaft 18 is supported by a cam journal receiver 51, which is formed by a upper joint surface 48a of an intake side cam carrier portion 48 and an intake cam cap 50 mounted on the cam carrier portion 48. The intake camshaft 17 is supported by the cam journal receiver 51.
