PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method for filter membrane capable of cost effectively, easily and sufficiently suppressing the intrusion of contaminants to a filtrate. SOLUTION: The cleaning method for filter membrane for cleaning a filter membrane of a membrane module 31 where water to be treated is supplied from a primary side 33 to be led out to a secondary side 34 includes: a cleaning and immersion procedure for circulating a first chemical-containing water from the secondary side 34 to the primary side 33 to immerse the filter membrane in this first chemical-containing water at least once; a reverse washing procedure for circulating a second chemical-containing water from the secondary side 34 to the primary side 33; and a rinse procedure for starting to discharge the passed water flowed to the primary side 33 out of an introduction system 20 and filter system 30 for water to be treated within a predetermined time period.
