PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve printing processing time for retention printing in an image forming apparatus having a small mounted memory size.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: storage means for storing a supplied printing job; selection means for selecting the printing job stored in the storage means so as to start printing; determination means for determining whether or not a PDL analysis module required for PDL analysis processing of the printing job selected by the selection means is under activation on the basis that the printing job is selected by the selection means; and control means for controlling the starting and finishing of the PDL analysis module on the basis of the determination result by the determination means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
