PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antistatic method of an optical film for an optical film having a hard coat layer disposed on one surface side of a light-transmitting substrate, a polarizing plate using the optical film, and a display using the optical film, by which the hard coat layer has hardness (hard coating property) as well as an antistatic agent is less likely removed from the hard coat layer by a solvent of a cover layer or by a waste cloth impregnated with a solvent (it may be referred to as wipe-off resistance to solvents), and antistatic performance can be maintained for a long period of time.SOLUTION: An antistatic method is provided for an optical film having a hard coat layer having a film thickness of 1 to 40 μm disposed on one surface side of a light-transmitting substrate. A hard coat layer described below is disposed as the above hard coat layer. The hard coat layer contains an ionic liquid comprising a cation and an anion; and in a film thickness direction of the hard coat layer, an abundance of the ionic liquid present in a region from an interface on an opposite side of the hard coat layer to the light-transmitting substrate to 700 nm depth has a peak in a region from 50 to 700 nm depth from the above interface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
