PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of obtaining a dynamic range compression image without a sense of incongruity in comparison with a conventional dynamic range compression system in compressing a dynamic range of an image. SOLUTION: A compression ratio processing section 31 calculates a compression ratio gy for compressing the dynamic range of input image signals Rin, Gin, Bin and a saturation correction section 34 applies saturation correction processing for changing the saturation in response to the compression ratio gy to image signals Rdc, Gdc, Bdc whose dynamic range is compressed.
