摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the resistance force to mechanical forces, such as tension and compression, by applying specific 3 layers of coatings on the outer side of a bare plastic optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:This optical fiber cable has the 1st coating layer 2 of 0.01 to 0.2mm thickness consisting of a resin which does not thermally weld to a sheath on the outer side of the bare plastic optical fiber 1 and the 2nd coating layer 3 of 0.05 to 0.4mm thickness consisting of a resin which contains polyvinylidene fluoride or the structural unit of the vinylidene fluoride and has >=60 value of Shore hardness D at 23 deg.C on the outer side thereof. Further, the 3rd coating layer 4 of 0.1 to 1.0mm thickness consisting of the resin which includes the polyvinylidene fluoride or the structural unit of the vinylidene fluoride and has the Shore hardness D at 23 deg.C of the resin equal to or lower than the hardness of the resin of the 2nd coating layer is so provided as to thermally weld to the 2nd coating layer. The optical fiber cable which has excellent mechanical characteristics and is sufficiently practicably usable even at a high temp. of about 85 deg.C is obtd. in this way.
