PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve energy-saving effect and operation efficiency by efficiently increasing or decreasing the number of elevator cars in operation.SOLUTION: A group management control device 10 for elevator according to one embodiment comprises an operable car number setting part 14, a direction-specified car number detection part 15, an allocation propriety determination part 16, and an allocation control part 13. The operable car number setting part 14 sets the number of cars which can be placed in operation. The direction-specified car number detection part 15 detects the number of direction-specified cars currently in an in-operation state among respective cars. The allocation propriety determination part 16 determines whether each car can be allocated to a hall call based upon the number of cars which can be placed in operation and the number of direction-specified cars when the hall call is registered.
