An exemplary system includes a navigation system, an imaging system, and a data acquisition and analysis system. The exemplary system provides actively guidance for ultrasound image acquisition based on position information provided by the navigation system at different times (e.g., before and after an interventional procedure), to ensure that image data is collected at the same location within the object of interest (e.g., a target region of the interventional procedure) using the same probe posture (e.g., location and/or orientation).

1. A system for providing guided ultrasound image acquisition, comprising:
an ultrasound imaging system comprising an ultrasound probe adapted to move around an object of interest to acquire respective ultrasound image data using different probe positions; a navigation system comprising a navigation probe, wherein the navigation probe is adapted to be rigidly affixed to and maneuvered with the ultrasound probe within a view field of the navigation system; and a data acquisition and analysis system comprising one or more processors and memory, and configured to perform operations comprising:
in a first mode:
acquiring first ultrasound image data while the ultrasound probe is placed in a first position; andfor the first ultrasound image data, acquiring contemporaneous navigation position data of the navigation probe that is rigidly affixed to the ultrasound probe;in a second mode:
generating a guidance output for assisting an operator of the ultrasound probe to physically align a current position of the ultrasound probe to the first position of the ultrasound probe associated with the first ultrasound image data.
