<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying an exhaust gas without producing nitrogen oxide as a by-product and capable of carrying out decomposition with low energy in a short time at a normal temperature when the purifying treatment of a volatile hazardous organic substance included in the exhaust gas at a low concentration is carried out, and its apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The method for purifying the exhaust gas is to adsorb the exhaust gas containing the volatile hazardous organic substance by an adsorbent provided with a metal catalyst function, and thereafter, to perform low-temperature plasma treatment under an oxygen atmosphere, thereby decomposing and removing the volatile hazardous organic substance. Further, the exhaust gas purifying apparatus is provided with supplying means for supplying the exhaust gas containing the volatile hazardous organic substance to a reactor, supplying means for supplying oxygen to the reactor, a low-temperature plasma reactor filling the adsorbent provided with the metal catalyst function adsorbing the hazardous organic substance in the inside thereof and generating plasma at a low temperature, a high-voltage power source for applying a voltage to the reactor, and releasing means for releasing gas subjected to the decomposition in the low-temperature plasma reactor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
