PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve high-frequency response characteristics by increasing the damping constant of a magnetic body constituting a main magnetic pole, thereby achieving a high recording speed of a perpendicular magnetic head, in the magnetic head for a perpendicular magnetic recording system. SOLUTION: The magnetic head for a perpendicular magnetic recording system is provided with a main magnetic pole 2 for generating a magnetic field roughly perpendicular to the recording layer of a recording body, magnetizing the recording layer. The main magnetic pole 2 is provided with fine particles 6 formed on a substrate layer 4, and a magnetic film 10 made of a magnetic body 8 grown by using the fine particles 6 as a core.
