PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape measuring apparatus and a shape measuring method capable of measuring the shapes of holes without having to prolong measuring time. SOLUTION: In the shape measuring method for measuring the shape of a cylindrical workpiece, the shape of the workpiece is detected. A sensor is moved in the direction of the axis of rotation of the workpiece as rotating a mounting board to which the workpiece is mounted, and detection data output from the moved sensor is written in a storage part. Reference is made to the detection data written in the storage part to extract section data on a section corresponding to one rotation of the workpiece.
