The present technology relates to a reception device, a reception method, a transmission device, and a transmission method in which a convergence service of broadcasting and communication can be realized more effectively. A FLUTE processing unit is configured to acquire one or more components constituting a specific service of a plurality of services included in broadcast waves of digital broadcasting using an IP transfer system, in accordance with a first control signal including information indicating types and a transfer system of the one or more components constituting the specific service such that the convergence service of broadcasting and communication can be realized more effectively.
