<p>A process for the production of insulating board based on mineral and paper fibres, by making a slurry of mineral fibres, binders and the usual additives in water, forming the board by spreading the slurry on a screen, then drying and compacting the board. The slurry is made with the addition of 0.01-3 wt% (based on solid) of betaine, amine oxide, quat. ammonium compound or ester-quat of formula R'(CONH(CH2)x)zN<+)<R<2>)(R<3>)(CH2)yCOO<-> (I), R'(CONH(CH2)x)zN(R<2>)(R<3>) -> O (II), R<4>N(R<5>)R<7>)R<6> X<-> (III) and (IV) respectively, in which R<1> = alkyl residue of fatty acid with 6-18 carbons; R<2>, R<3> = 1-4C alkyl; R<4> = 8-22C alkyl or alkenyl; R<5> = 1-5C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; R<6> = R<4> or R<5>; R<7> = R<5> or optionally a substituted benzyl group; X = anion; R<8>CO = optionally hydroxy-substituted 12-22C aliphatic acyl with 0 or 1 double bond; R<9> = methyl or a polyethylene glycol ether chain with 1-5 ethylene oxide (EO) units; Y = halogen, alkyl-sulphate or alkyl- phosphate; in (I) and (II), x = 2 or 3, y = 1, 2 or 3, and z = 0 or 1; in (IV), x, z = 0, or x + z = 1-20.</p> |
