The invention relates to a method and a unit for determining the compression properties of crop material (28) in an agricultural working machine (1) with a compressing device (24), being filled with a material sample (28) during the working process. The compression of the material sample (28) is determined based on at least one defined precompression of the material sample carried out by the compressing device (24). At least one compressing element (25, 25a) assigned to the compressing device (24) applies a load on the material sample (28) and moves relative to it, to provide an improved compression effect in crop material. The method and device provide raising the reliability and accuracy of determining the compression properties of crop material increasing the effectiveness of use thereof. |
