PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily recover from an abnormal state where an image can not be normally displayed. SOLUTION: A television receiver includes: an ROM storing test image data and a normal luminance actual measurement value; an image correction part executing predetermined correction to the test image data to generate corrected test image data; and a CPU comparing the normal luminance actual measurement value with a corrected luminance value of the corrected test image data. When the normal luminance actual measurement value and the corrected luminance value are different from each other as a result of the comparison, the image correction part is restarted, thereby it is determined that the image correction part is in an abnormal state in response to the difference of the normal luminance actual measurement value from the corrected luminance value without troubling a user, the image correction part can be restarted, and thus the television receiver can be easily recovered from an abnormal state where normal display can not be executed.
