PREPARATION OF IRON-TITANIUM NANOPARTICLES

The present teachings are directed towards methods of producing nanoparticles containing by providing an iron-containing organometallic component and a titanium-containing organometallic component; contacting the components in the presence of a surfactant; and heating the mixture to produce nanoparticles containing iron and titanium. Then a metal-containing precursor is provided and contacted with the nanoparticles containing iron and titanium, and the new mixture is heated to produce metal-capped nanoparticles containing iron and titanium. The added metal-containing precursor comprises an organometallic component capable of forming metal-capped nanoparticles.
