PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep linearity in the relationship of image data vs quantity of light appropriately when pulse width modulation(PWM) is performed at high speed in an electrophotographic imaging system. SOLUTION: PWM is performed while setting minimum/maximum pulse widths in a PWM section 212 for gradation stressed 400 line region. For resolution stressed 800 line region, PWM is performed in a PWM section 212 after minimum/maximum image data is set at an LUT 211. Consequently, an appropriate gradation reproducibility is provided for the 400 line region and an image can be formed while sustaining resolution for the 800 line region. |
